Join the Effort to Keep Abergavenny Blooming Gold
As Abergavenny prepares for its annual Abergavenny in Bloom competition, local businesses have a unique opportunity to help beautify the town and maintain its Gold status awarded in the esteemed Wales in Bloom competition. The Abergavenny Town Council, in collaboration with community volunteers and gardening groups, is reaching out for sponsorship to fund hanging baskets that will enhance shopfronts and public spaces.
The Investment in Beauty and Community
Each hanging basket represents an investment of £99, which covers watering and maintenance throughout the blooming season. To encourage local participation, the Town Council has pledged to reduce the cost to just £49 for each business by contributing £50 towards the first basket. This initiative not only enhances the physical attractiveness of the town but also fosters a sense of community engagement.
Why Participation Matters
A spokesperson for the Town Council emphasized the significance of community involvement: “This is a brilliant opportunity for local traders to get involved in something that lifts the whole town.” Beyond the aesthetic improvement, these efforts create a welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors, unveiling Abergavenny's charm and vibrancy.
Beyond Hanging Baskets: Other Ways to Contribute
If a business lacks space for a hanging basket, there are still several ways to contribute. Businesses can offer time to assist with local planting schemes, or sponsor other community areas that need a touch of care and beautification.
