Excitement Builds as Thriving Communities Event Returns
The vibrant community of Monmouthshire is gearing up for an enriching experience as the "Thriving Communities" event marks its return for a second successful year. Following last year’s impressive turnout, the event is set to take place on two separate occasions: October 16 at the Magor and Undy Hub, and October 20 at Abergavenny Market Hall. Both events will run from 11 am to 4 pm, inviting all residents to come and explore their community resources.
Connecting Residents with Local Organizations
Angela Sandles, cabinet member for engagement and equalities with Monmouthshire County Council, emphasized the importance of these community events, stating, "After such a fantastic event in 2024, we look forward to welcoming everyone to this year's events." These gatherings aim to foster connections between residents and a variety of local organizations and services, including Care & Repair Monmouthshire, Keep Wales Tidy, and the Magor Amateur Dramatics Society (MADS).
Workshops and Activities for All Ages
Not only will attendees have the opportunity to meet representatives from numerous community partners, but they will also engage in hands-on workshops and discover diverse activities available in the area. One of the highlights includes participants enjoying sessions from The Cookalong Clwb, allowing families to learn culinary skills while having fun.
Building a Thriving Community
Partially funded by the UK government and organized by various local authorities including the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations, these events serve as a catalyst for fostering community spirit. They embody the core values of connection, learning, and engagement that are essential for the social fabric of Monmouthshire.
As we approach these event dates, it is clear that the "Thriving Communities" initiative not only celebrates local culture but also enhances community ties, empowering residents through collective knowledge and resources. Mark your calendars and join us for a day of fun, learning, and community spirit!
