Wye Valley Chamber Music Returns This July
Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of classical music as the Wye Valley Chamber Music concerts make their much-anticipated return this July. Running from July 21 to 27, this year's summer residency will once again feature a rich series of performances at the historic Treowen Manor in Wonastow and St Briavels church. Attendees will witness the vibrant talents of the next generation of musicians performing alongside their internationally acclaimed tutors.
A Glimpse Into the Program
The residency is not only about performance but also a time for learning and collaboration. This year’s lineup includes renowned tutors such as Daniel Tong (piano), Krysia Osostowicz (violin), Robin Ireland (viola), and Tim Smedley (cello). Together, they will guide their students in rehearsal while preparing for three distinct concerts that promise to be a feast for the senses. On July 23, the opening concert will feature the Florens Quartet performing Grażyna Bacewicz’s dynamic String Quartet No. 4 followed by Rebecca Clarke’s lyrical Piano Trio, concluding with Brahms’ passionate Piano Quartet in G minor.
Engaging with Music and Masterclasses
A standout moment of the residency will occur during the Residency Open Day on July 26, from 11 am to 5:30 pm. This day offers the public a unique insight into the creative processes behind chamber music. Audiences can attend a range of engaging masterclasses before enjoying afternoon performances that include masterpieces by Mozart, Clarke, and Britten.
