Essential Road Works Impact Monnow Street in Monmouth
Residents and travelers in Monmouth should prepare for some traffic disruptions on August 3, as Welsh Water schedules a temporary closure of a section of Monnow Street. The closure will last from 8 am to 6 pm, impacting the section from its junction with Agincourt Street for approximately 30 meters downward.
During this time, Welsh Water will be carrying out necessary works aimed at enhancing water services in the area. For those living on or near the affected lengths of the road, reasonable access to properties will be maintained despite the closure.
Navigating Around the Closure
According to Welsh Water's instructions, a signed diversion route will be in place. Motorists wishing to travel south will redirect from the Hereford Road traffic lights to Dixton Road, proceeding along the A40, B4293 Beech Road, and more. Northern travelers will find an alternative route that goes through B4293 Blestium Street, B4293 Cinderhill Street, and ultimately the A40. These diversions are designed to help minimize inconvenience while ensuring safety during the construction.
Understanding the Importance of Infrastructure Upgrades

With increasing demands on our water systems, timely upgrades allow for increased capacity and improved reliability. It’s essential that all community members stay informed about these changes, particularly those who rely on Monnow Street for daily business or travel.
