Local Theatre Group Gains Viral Popularity
A community theatre group in Chepstow is experiencing a significant surge in popularity just before its upcoming production of Monty Python’s Spamalot. Perform Chepstow is set to take the stage at WyeDean School from August 7 to August 9, with shows on Thursday and Friday at 7:30 PM, and matinee and evening performances on Saturday at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM respectively.
Authenticity Sparks Community Engagement
Perform Chepstow’s social media presence, particularly on TikTok, has been instrumental in its viral success. The group, often managed by enthusiastic volunteers, recently posted a video that racked up over 500,000 views. This follows a stunning performance promotion of Beauty and the Beast last year which garnered over two million views. Stephanie Dean, who handles social media and marketing for the group, attributes their outreach to a blend of authenticity and humor. "We’re not a big-budget company but people respond to authenticity and silliness, and we’ve got plenty of both!" she remarked.
Monty Python's Spamalot: A Family-Friendly Experience
This lively interpretation of Spamalot follows King Arthur on his ridiculous quest for the Holy Grail, complete with side-splitting songs, outrageous costumes, and signature Monty Python comedy. The production has been marked with a PG rating, suggesting that while it is family-oriented, parents should be attentive to some of the humor that may not be suitable for younger children.
